  1. The concept of "the day of the Lord" is seen all throughout Scripture, but especially the prophets. What is meant by this? Has the "day of the Lord" already come? Why or why not?
  2. When reading passages that speak about the "day of the Lord," one can recognize that some elements of the prophecies have come true, while others haven't (Examples: Amos 9:7-15, Jeremiah 31:31-34). How do we reconcile this?
  3. In verses 2-3, the chapter describes a siege and the Lord's intervention. What might this symbolize, and how does it relate to the larger message?
  4. Verse 2 describes some horrific events that Zechariah is prophesying about. Why would the Lord include this as part of his redemptive plan for Israel and the world?
  5. What is the significance of the graphic plague that will land on those that fought against Jerusalem (verses 12-15)? Has this already happened? Why or why not?
  6. In verse 16, it mentions people from all nations coming to worship the King for the Feast of Tabernacles. What is the Feast of Tabernacles? How does this apply to us today?
  7. In Zechariah 12, there's a focus on mourning for the pierced one. How might this connect to the themes of triumph and restoration in Zechariah 14?
