  1. Why do you think Paul continually tells the Roman believers to live in harmony with one another? How does our unity as believers contrast with the wickedness of the world?
  2. In what specific ways might you be able to "build up" (HCSB) your brother or sister in the faith? How does building others up reveal your heart towards God and others?
  3. According to verse 4, what is the purpose of Scripture? How do you incorporate Scripture in your daily life in such a way that it teaches and instructs you for daily living?
  4. What is the significance of God being glorified by both Jews and Gentiles? How does this give us an example of the boundaries and prejudices that the blood of Christ has overcome?

  8. What motivated Paul to proclaim the Gospel to the Gentiles? Why is this so significant in light of his own ethnic heritage? What might this be teaching you about crossing the boundaries of ethnicity and culture for the sake of the Gospel?
  9. What role does the Holy Spirit play in the life of Paul here, and in the life of the believer in general? Why is it so important for you to recognize the role and work of the Holy Spirit in your life?
  10. Why do you think Paul purposefully included so many geographical and other details in his writings? How does this verify his work and the truthfulness of his testimony? In what ways does the historical record of the Bible give you confidence of its accuracy?
