Discussion Questions for Revelation, Chapter 19

  1. Does the beginning of verse 1 give us a peek into what we will do in heaven? Do you agree with this?
  2. Who could the great prostitute be mentioned in verse 2? Why choose such vile comparisons to describe the state of the earth?
  3. Who are the 24 elders and the four living creatures? Where else are they mentioned in Revelation, and what is their significance?
  4. In verses 7 and 8 who is the lamb and the bride? What does it mean when it says the bride has made herself ready, and how should this affect our Christian walk?
  5. How does verse 10 speak to God's nature, and the emphasis he placed on this? How can we be encouraged by this in the midst of some of the other intimidating things said in Revelation?
  6. How does the description of the rider on the white horse differ from that of the antichrist? Are any of these thematic differences applicable in our day to day life when distinguishing from good and evil? If so, how can we use them?
  7. In verse 15 the description of God’s ruling seems very harsh. Why is he having to rule like this? How is this method justified?
  8. What is being symbolized in verses 17 and 18? At the end of 18 how is the statement, “both small and great” consistent with the philosophy Jesus carried all throughout the gospels? What are some examples of him displaying this?
  9. How does verse 20 motivate us to stay vigilant against false teachings? What are some false teachings being pushed out by the world, and how can we stay away from them?
  10. All throughout Revelation and especially in this passage a combination of harsh and confusing metaphors are used. Why do you think this is, and does this speak to the nature of the end times
