  1. Give some examples of what David thanks the Lord for. What do you often find yourself thanking God for? What does this tell you about your view of God? Explain
  2. Why does David say to the Lord "You are my Lord" (ESV)? What is the importance of declaring God's attributes to Him?
  3. When David speaks about the saints, he says "in whom is all my delight" (ESV). When was the last time you thanked someone for their encouragement or role in your life? Is there someone specific who comes to your mind?
  4. What does it mean that "The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup" (ESV)? Explain what the differences are to "portion" and "cup". What does this have foreshadow?
  5. How can we seek more of God's counsel? As David does here, what are some more specific ways to seek God's Counsel? What has worked for you in the past?
  6. What are some of the traits of God that is found throughout this Psalm? What traits are you drawn to? Are their other ones you need to appreciate more? Why?
  7. David says "I have set the Lord always before me." (ESV), what are some of the ways God takes a backseat in your life? What areas do you not put Him before?
  8. What are some of the ways the World puts their priorities before God? What seems to be a major holdup for the non-believers you know?
  9. David says "in your prescence there is fullness of joy" (ESV), have you ever felt what David is describing? When? How? If not, truly ask yourself why I don't I rejoice in the Lord?
  10. What are ways the Lord has made Himself clear to you (v.11)? Is there something specific He has been calling you to? Away from? Explain.
