Discussion Questions for Proverbs, Chapter 25
- Why do you think the Lord hides wisdom? Why doesn't He give it to people unless they seek it out?
- You are probably not a king or queen, so how can verses 4 and 5 be applied to your own life?
- Instead of taking a matter to court, what are some steps that you could take before then? How does the Bible instruct us on this?
- How has a well-timed rebuke made a lasting impact on your life? Is there someone in your life who could use a loving rebuke?
- Reflecting on the clouds and wind without rain, how does making promises without delivering on them make others feel? How can you do your best to be true to your word?
- "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me." Verse 15 says differently, though. How can soft speech be so persuasive and destructive? How can the power of patience be an effective leadership quality?
- Sometimes the proverbs have very thoughtful ideas behind them, and other times you get a proverb like verse 16, which seems almost silly. Why would the author include it? Is there some deeper meaning here? If so, what is it?
- When have you trusted the wrong person, putting yourself in a rough situation? How can you know if your friends are trustworthy?
- What difficult people in your life can you show kindness to this week? Should we desire to "heap burning coals" on our enemy's head? Why or why not?
