Discussion Questions for Job, Chapter 13
- Job says, "Behold, my eye has seen all this, my ear has heard and understood it" (Job 13:1 ESV). What is Job referring to? Someone, please describe what has happened in Job's life up to this point.
- Why is Job frustrated with his friends? When have you acted like Job's friends?
- Job says, "But I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to argue my case with God. Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face" (Job 13:3, 15 ESV). Describe a time in your life when you felt like Job.
- Have you ever suffered unjustly? How was God faithful to you during that time?
- How many times are the words "speak" or "argue" used in this passage? What do you think is the significance of that?
- Do you think Job is speaking primarily to his friends or to God? Based on the text, how do you know who Job is speaking to? How does this change the way the passage is understood?

- Job asks, "How many are my iniquities and my sins? Make me know my transgression and my sin" (Job 13:23 ESV). When was the last time you prayed this prayer? Why is it necessary for us to ask God to reveal our sin to us?
