Discussion Questions for Deuteronomy, Chapter 32

1. Why would Moses describe teaching as beautiful in verses 1-3? How do we normally think about teaching and is this similar or different from Moses' view?
2. What is the relationship between verse 4 and verse 5? How might you describe the relationship between verse 4 and the Church today, and verse 4 and the world today?
3. What is it that the people are supposed to remember in verse 7? How does this relate to the overall message of the chapter? What kinds of things in our lives could we remember for the same purpose?
4. How might verses 19-22 be an obstacle to unbelievers? How would you try and explain why God is just in them and why the verses are included in the chapter?
5. How do you understand the statement in verse 27 that God is afraid? What does Moses mean by it and do you think God's fear is similar or different to our fear? How might this passage shape us to have the right fear?
6. How does verse 9 describe God's relationship with his people? How does this show God's love and care and how does this push us toward a deeper relationship with him today?
7. How do verses 10-11 which describe God's care for his people give us hope today? How might you use this passage to help someone struggling with a lack of hope?
8. How does prosperity cause pride in verse 15? What are some examples of the same thing today and how can we guard against it?
9. How might you explain verse 25 to an unbeliever who is troubled by it?
10. Verse 28-33 describes a wise way of understanding the events described. What is this correct interpretation of the judgement? How does this help us rightly interpret our own lives?
