  1. The church grew so quickly in Jerusalem that one segment of the church became overlooked. Who was that? What was the problem that arose? What do Christians typically do when problems arise inside the church? How can we respond better?
  2. The apostles quickly arrived at a solution. Does anything surprise you about their initial response? What did they prioritize? Why?
  3. What qualifications did these first "deacons" need to meet? How did the church arrive at this decision? How does the Spirit lead this process? How does God use servant leaders in the church going forward?
  4. What happened as a result of this conflict within the church? What are positives that can happen when we get into an disagreement? How did God use this for his glory? What does the Bible teach us about problems and leaders? Where do you see bold leaders for Christ in the world today? What is their attitude like?
  5. How do you know God was using Stephen? What did the "Freedmen" Jews think about that? What accusations were half-true? How so?
  6. Does it surprise you that evil men will twist the words of an innocent man? Why should followers of Jesus expect this? How do we answer when we are falsely accused? Should we test ourselves for any hint of truth to accusations?
  7. How can God powerfully use you today? Can you think of examples of Christian servants in your life who powerfully show you Jesus? Take some time to thank God for them and write them a thank you.
  8. How does God raise up new leaders in the church? Do you see some needs not being met in your church? How can you help? Are you willing to serve sacrificially without accolades or advancement?
  9. Why didn't God strike down the false witnesses in the Jewish trial? What should our posture be when praying for God to heal or protect?
  10. What bold prayers are you lifting up today? Are you praying weak prayers out of fear? How can God's Word and Spirit help you?
