  1. Chapter 23 begins saying Jehoiada summoned his courage. Why did Jehoiada need to be courageous to do what he was about to do?
  2. Jehoiada the priest begins the work of summoning all the Levites. He also covenants with commanders. Why did he gather so many with him? How does this portion of text help to motivate to share the Gospel and see the kingdom of God grow?
  3. Jehoiada reveals Joash to all those that he gathered and covenanted with him. When he reveals him, what does he say Joash will become and why? How do you think the people reacted to this news? What are some ways that this changed the mindset and hearts of the people?
  4. What is the significance of guarding the gates of Jerusalem? The Gate of the Foundation likely stood between the king’s palace and the temple. Why would this gate be especially important?
