- Look at Deuteronomy 7:3 and 2 Corinthians 6:14. How do they relate to verse 1 of 1 Kings 3? Why is what Solomon did potentially wrong, and why would God command against it? What is our application today?
- Look at Deuteronomy 12:2-3 and compare it with 1 Kings 3:2. What is the problem with what the people are doing? What might have been their motivation to worship God on their own terms and not on God's terms?
- Verse 3 is mostly positive but contains a clear negative. What might the author of Kings say about your life if you were in the story?
