Discussion Questions for 1 Chronicles, Chapter 16

  1. What was the first thing scripture tells us happened after placing the Ark inside the tent? How do you think David was feeling emotionally? How do you respond when a desire in your life becomes a reality through obedience in Christ?
  2. Verse 2 says and David “blessed” (ESV) the people. How can we bless others out of the blessing God gives us?
  3. When the Ark of the Lord celebration was over what does David do (Verse 4)? What does this tell us about David’s leadership? Why did David not want the worship to be a one day event? How did he go about setting up worship to be daily?
  4. Verses 7-36 are a song of praise and thanksgiving. Who wrote it? What is the benefit for Israel to sing/hear this song daily? How do we benefit from daily praise to God?
  5. What does proclaiming God’s greatness look like? Is it something we show or speak? How do you think you can proclaim His greatness in your life?
  6. In verse 8, who are we to let know of God’s greatness? Consider Matthew 10:32-33. How does it relate to this passage?
  7. Verse 11 (ESV) says we are to search for the Lord. How do we search for the Lord? Is it something we do alone or with others? Why or why not?
  8. In verse 12, we are told to remember (ESV). Why do you think remembering is so important? Should we remember the good, bad, or both? What benefits come from remembering the good and the bad? What are tangible ways to help us remember?
  9. In verses 8-13, David writes 8 ways one can praise and glorify God. What are they? Do you find some come easier for you than others? Which ones are easiest for you? How can you improve in the areas that are difficult?
  10. In verses 15-24, what are the Israelites being reminded of and why do you think it is important? In the Old Testament God only made covenant with whom? Since Christ’s resurrection, how has the covenant changed? Is it important for New Testament believers to know Jewish history/covenants and why?
